“Tayo sa Wakas,” the final project of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, is off to a strong start in cinemas, as it earned ₱12 million on its first day.
The box-office performance of “Tayo sa Wakas” was announced by Star Cinema on Thursday, May 28, a day after the Pangilinan and Mariano-led starrer opened in cinemas on May 27. The film is currently playing in 250 cinemas nationwide.
“Damang dama namin ang mainit na suporta sa unang araw! Maraming salamat! Di ‘to magwawakas sa first day! Sama-sama tayo hanggang dulo (We feel your heated support on the first day. Thank you! This won’t end on the first day. This will continue until the end),” Star Cinema’s post read.
“Tayo sa Wakas” tells the story of Cisco (Pangilinan) and Cheska (Mariano), who vowed to stay together in life, love and their careers. However, their growing ambitions to succeed drove them apart, prompting them to debate whether their relationship was worth fighting for. In a last-ditch effort to save their romance, they embark on a “breakup trip” to try to restore their relationship to what it once was.
The film also stars Epy Quizon, Yayo Aguila, Allan Paule, Joross Gamboa, River Joseph and Emilio Daez. /ra
