Rumours surrounding India superstar Sanju Samson’s future continue to swirl ahead of the IPL 2026 retention deadline. The 30-year-old featured in India’s Asia Cup winning side and will travel to Australia for the 5-match T20I series against Australia. Samson’s future with Rajasthan Royals is in limbo and he was recently pictured with RCB’s throw down specialist.
Sanju Samson gears up for IND vs AUS T20Is with RCB trainer
With 5 T20is against Australia on the horizon, Sanju Samson has hit T20I mode. The Rajasthan Royals star featured for Kerala in their Ranji Trophy 2025 opener, scoring a half-century. He has since linked up with RCB’s throwdown specialist Gabriel for a session.
The picture has since gone viral, linking Samson with a move to RCB. While having Sanju, Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar in the same XI would be quite the achievement, there seems to be no movement with the Kerala star in that regard.
Players often train with specialists from other teams when not playing the IPL. In fact, before his return for the IND vs AUS series, Virat Kohli enjoyed a session in the company of Naeem Amin in London.
Sanju has adapted well to his new role, with Shubman Gill’s return pushing him down into the middle order. However, it is still early days and the Kerala ace is prepping well for the challenges ahead. The IND vs AUS T20Is will pose a different test, with pitches to offer more pace and bounce than at the Asia Cup 2025.
As for his IPL future, it is likely to go down to the wire. With a retention deadline rumoured to be November 15, Rajasthan Royals have a decision to make for their captain. The franchise sought a trade but no viable offer materialized. He could also be released into the auction pool should RR opt to cash in. The franchise are undergoing a full sweep of changes post season, with comprehensive backroom staff changes.
